Today we had some special visitors from, Navient Corporation, to read in each classroom for our Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) day! Each year several employees from Navient donate money and time to ensure every student here at Delevan Elementary receives a free book and has the opportunity to hear an adult role model read aloud. We are thankful for these very generous members from our community.

Mismatch Monday fun!
Author Miranda Mittleman and her dog Weaver visited Delevan Elementary today. Kindergarten, first, and second grade students from both Delevan and Arcade had a great time during her assembly. Our library purchased her three books which are available for students to borrow.
Homecoming Spirit days are next week! Monday, October 7th is our first spirit day, Mismatch Monday!

All this week the 2nd grade has been virtually visiting with author Brad Tassell, reading poems of his that combine rhyming, reading and math. A fun way to kick off a day!

In collaboration with community partners, Arcade and Delevan Elementary Schools are continuing the Snackpaks for Kids Program this school year. Many children who receive no-charge school meals are left without adequate nutrition on weekends & holiday breaks. Our program is designed to fill this gap by providing healthy, kid-friendly, and easy to prepare foods to children at risk of weekend hunger. The hope in supplying food is not only to fill a hungry belly, but also to give children the focus to be ready to learn come Monday morning without the worry of hunger.
