The Erie-Niagara School Superintendents Association traditionally has awarded its Crystal Bison to the top three academic performers from area schools at an annual banquet. The pandemic forced the in-person event to be cancelled the last two years, and the association mailed the award to its recipients.

However, the banquet has returned for 2022, and the top three Pioneer students from this year's senior class were able to attend the Erie-Niagara Scholastic Achievement Recognition Dinner.

Zachary Holmes, Collin Hughes and Layla Boyer each received the Crystal Bison by artist Victor Trabucco, as well as money toward college. They enjoyed a keynote address by Kelsey Anderson, morning anchor for Channel 4' s WakeUp!

Acting Principal Katelyn Welker attended the dinner along with Board of Education President Melissa Nocera-Collins.
