Senior Lillian Moore will represent Pioneer at the New York State School Music Association's annual conference, Dec. 4-7, in Rochester.

Lillian, a French horn player, will join 900 other musicians from across the state to prepare and perform a concert at the NYSSMA Winter Conference.

The NYSSMA ensembles at the Winter Conference are comprised of the top students from school music departments across the state. The groups are directed by renowned guest conductors.

The selection process began with Lillian preparing a Level VI solo, spending countless hours on practice, and then traveling to an audition site. Only students with a score of 98 or higher are selected for Conference All-State.

Finalists are then sent the music to prepare for the NYSSMA Conference performance. Lillian and her teacher April Woolley have been practicing in the months and weeks leading up to the final trek to Rochester.

Lillian is the daughter of Stephanie and Mark Moore of Arcade.

Lillian has a long list of music achievements at Pioneer. As a freshman she was tapped for Erie County's Senior All-High Orchestra. In her junior year, she competed for and won the Southtowns Youth Orchestra Scholarship, and performed a solo with the group during its annual concert.
