trash fashion

A Pioneer High School student is out to prove that one person's trash could be another person's new look.

St. Bonaventure University's annual Trashion Fashion contest is open to students to reuse and recycle materials to make an outfit of their choice. Pioneer High School sophomore Alison Mott created an entry that repurposed a black trash bag with ornate flowers made of tissue paper.

The full-length black dress was adorned with painted pop tops to bring some color into the design.

Alison was set to have her creation revealed on the runway at the annual event on April 18, but the event was cancelled because too many participants backed out at the last minute, according to her teacher, Renee Wrotniak.

Alison's model is her childhood friend Grace, who attends Holland High School.
