Pioneer's first flag football win is in the record books!

The Panthers visited Amherst Wednesday and came away with a 25-22 win. It was the regular season opener in the program's inaugural season.

A couple of highlights:

  • Shay Edwards scored the first points in school history, catching a three-yard pass from Brooke Eastman.
  • Abigail Mason led the team in receptions and tackles.  She also had a TD catch and extra-point catch.
  • Brooke Eastman was the game MVP.

Coach Chris Edwards was pleased with his team's effort.

"I am extremely proud of these girls for winning the first game in school history.   Amherst lost in the Division II finals last year so this is a big win for us," he said.

"We were up 13-0 at the half and Amherst closed the gap to 19-14 with six minutes left.  We drove the ball down the field, and Brooke Eastman scored on a 17-yard TD run with 59 seconds to secure the win," Coach Edwards added.

Pioneer's home opener is Thursday, April 27, at 5:00 p.m., against Lewiston-Porter.
