equipment

Arcade Elementary students came through in a big way for the Village of Arcade in its quest to name pieces of heavy equipment.

The village's Streets and Parks division sponsored a contest in which students were asked to submit names for the plows, trucks and tractors. The results are in:

  • Pre-K and kindergarten students named a Steiner sidewalk plowing machine, and the winner was Rockie, suggested by Carsen Palmisano in Mr. Mark Kehl's class.

  • First graders named a Multi-Hog sidewalk machine, and the name Mr. Muncher was submitted by students of Mrs. Amy Gabler.
  • Second graders vied to name the village's loader. Big Bill was the winner, suggested by Audrey Wypij of Mrs. Heidi Salzman-Blidy's class.
  • Third graders undertook the task of naming the small plow truck. The winning name was Blizzard Boss from Francesca Maida in the class of Miss Morgan Tackentien.

  • For the village's main plow, fourth graders chose Big Daddy, suggested by Bradyn Sergel of Mrs. Cailynn Call's class (photo not available).
