Dear Arcade Elementary Families:
Thank you for an excellent opening month of school; we are settling in nicely and lots of amazing things are happening here! We have completed all of our fire drills that are required before December, as well as our off-site evacuation drill, and we will complete the four lockdown drills during the colder months—more information will follow before we begin those.
We are also looking forward to OPEN HOUSE from 5:30-7:00pm on Wednesday, October 7. We will have some community partners here with information for families, and your children will have the opportunity to lead you around the building to show you their classrooms and other spaces they visit every day. Please plan to keep your children under your supervision during the event so our teachers can talk with parents. Another family event coming in October is our Halloween Parade; please be on the lookout for more Halloween information from your child’s teacher as the end of the month approaches.
Some of our staff (myself included) are spending a significant amount of time investigating toys that are lost, traded, or even purchased without permission from home. Please do not send these items to school unless it is a special day communicated by the teacher. Likewise, if you notice that your child has brought home items that you don’t recognize, please send them back with a note for the teacher so they can be reunited with their owners! We will always do our best to help, and we know that sometimes kids will “accidentally” bring items from home without your knowledge, but we appreciate your help.
Project Read calendars are due at our greeter’s desk on Monday, October 5! Students who participate will get to choose a bracelet and charm, and we ask that you mark your student’s name on it in case it ends up as one of those “found” items!
Finally, I’d like to thank you for providing timely and accurate information regarding changes to transportation as well as late dropoff/early pickup. We appreciate having this information in advance, as last-minute changes can be difficult to accomplish in quick fashion.
Please see below for special dates in October, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me!
Sincerely,
Kerry Slocum, Principal
