Elementary principals Tiffany Giannicchi (Delevan) and Mellisa Devitt have provided the following update to families as we inch closer to Return to Learn Week (Sept. 8-11):

Dear Families:

We realize that this school year is full of change and unknowns. One major change is Parent-Student Orientation Day. Here is some clarification on how those days will look and why:

• There will not be a parent-student orientation on September 3.

On Tuesday, September 8,  all students from cohort A AND all morning UPK and kindergarten students will report to their assigned classroom at their assigned orientation time (this went home last week)

What will this time look like? You and your child will be trained on Microsoft Teams and how to use the device for online learning. Then your classroom teacher will review his/her expectations, and you will get all your materials that you will need to keep at home.

You come only to your assigned session from 8:45-10:45 a.m. OR noon-2:00 p.m.

• On Wednesday, September 9, the same group---all cohort A AND all morning pre-k and kindergarten students--will stay home. They will log onto TEAMS at that time and make sure everything is working with the technology and that all the expectations are clear.

What will this time look like? You and your child will be at home. You will log into the computer and work on the Teams platform. This is a time to troubleshoot any problems, as well as reach out to the teacher with any questions.

On Thursday, September 10,  All students from cohort B AND all afternoon UPK and kindergarten students will report to their  assigned classroom at their assigned orientation time (this went home last week)

This orientation schedule is designed to meet the needs of all of our learners and to give the parents an opportunity to learn the Teams software for instruction. If you have more than one child, please attend the oldest child’s orientation then stop in to meet the other child(ren)’s teacher and get your materials. The first part of all the orientations will be the same. Also, check out the training videos posted to our district website.
