Dear Arcade Families,
I hope your child has settled into the routine of school at this point and is enjoying their time here each day! We’ve had a number of special activities already, like our Jim “Basketball” Jones assembly, and we have many more to come. In fact, since next Friday, October 3, is Homecoming, we will be making banners, having a “dance” on Friday, and having Spirit Week all of next week!
Along with this letter, you’ll find October’s Project Read calendar. Remember that September’s calendar should be returned on October 2, with all calendars that have 20+ days of 15 minutes of reading (or more) marked off will go into a drawing for a prize! Reading with our children is truly one of the best ways to show them how important it is, and we appreciate your support!
I’d also like to direct your attention to the District Emergency Information Guide. This is the same across all four buildings, so you may have seen it already. Please note two critical items: It is ESSENTIAL that we have multiple, accurate contacts to call in the event of an emergency. We’ve already had several instances in which only one number is provided, and no one answers it. Please contact us to update as needed. Second, in the event of an emergency at school, we will do our best to communicate information AFTER securing the safety of all students, staff, and visitors. It’s very likely that the first communication will be somewhat vague, as the information available the soonest may not be accurate. You can expect a follow-up, and depending on the nature of the incident, it is likely to come from the district rather than the building. If you have any questions about school safety, please reach out to me or to Officer Benkelman.
In other news, we are holding Open House on Thursday, October 2, from 5:30-7:00pm. Parking can be tricky, so if you can ride together, it will help, but we will also have a shuttle running from our school to Hope Lutheran’s parking lot—many thanks to Hope for helping us out! Open House is just a time for your child to show you around, a chance to see some of their work, and maybe even to ask some questions now that we’re well underway. If you can make it, we’d love to see you!
More detailed plans for Halloween will come closer to the end of October from your child’s teacher, but we WILL have our parade again—we may alter the route, so stay tuned! Please also remember that any treats to be shared with others must be store-bought, with a list of ingredients.
The back of this page lists several events for the month of October. Thank you for your continued support, and please reach out if we can assist in any way!
