Joseph Cappadonia has been appointed Assistant Principal at Pioneer High School by the Pioneer Board of Education.

The appointment was approved at the Dec. 19 board meeting. Mr. Cappadonia succeeds Katelyn Welker, who was promoted to principal at the high school in November.  Michael Jansma continues as an assistant principal.

Prior to joining Pioneer, Mr. Cappadonia worked in Virginia at Stafford County Public Schools as an Assistant Principal for five years and then Alexandria City Public Schools as an Assistant Principal for four years. In total, he has 21 years of experience as an educator in all settings, including classroom experience in Health and Physical Education, and in athletics as a coach.

Mrs. Welker said,  "Mr. Cappadonia is committed to working alongside the High School and District Administrative team as we continue to provide leadership and build a structure of collaborative relationships in the school and community - so that ALL students have a variety of opportunities to succeed."
