Bad Weather: Is School Open? As we all know, weather in the snowbelt areas of Western New York can be anything but predictable. In the event of inclement weather, listen to your local radio or TV stations for information about school closings. The district will make every effort to inform staff and students as soon as possible about any school closings, after-school cancellations or delays. Although we try to notify as many media outlets as possible, please try these first:

Robocall: When you register for ParentPortal, you can opt-in to receive automated messages from Pioneer regarding closings, delays and cancellations.

TV & Radio

  • On TV, channels 2, 4, & 7, as well as Spectrum News One, look for school closing information to scroll during morning news.

Internet/Phones If weather permits, we will post school closings as soon as possible on this website, and on Facebook & Twitter. However, a loss of power in the area could prevent us from doing so. You may also call our main switchboard number at 716-492-9300 to hear a recorded message.

The WeatherBug station at Pioneer also has the latest warnings and radar.
