The Pioneer Panthers Varsity Football team has some unfinished business to take care of this week.
On Nov. 4, the Panthers (no. 3 seed) defeated host Maryvale (no. 2), 31-14, in the Section VI Class B semi-final game.
The win sets up a rematch on Friday, Nov. 11, at 5:00 p.m., against top-seeded Iroquois. The Chiefs won in week 5 over Pioneer, 27-6. It was the Panthers' last loss.
Friday's game is the Panthers' first Highmark Stadium appearance since 2018, when they lost the sectional championship game against Cheektowaga, 14-6.
In the win over Maryvale, Dalton Giboo had a pair of touchdown runs, Karter Giboo had an interception return for a score, and Devin Matuszak added a 41-yard field goal.
