Pastor Shawn Hannon of Hope Lutheran Church, Arcade, has been appointed to a vacant seat on the Pioneer Board of Education, effective immediately.

The board made the appointment at its Sept. 20 regular meeting.
Rev. Hannon will serve until the next board election in May. The board vacancy resulted from the resignation of Justin Baker, who joined the Agriculture Department faculty at Pioneer High School.

A Jamestown native, Rev. Hannon has been Hope Lutheran's pastor for 12 years. He and his wife Carol have three children who attend Pioneer. The Hannons reside in Arcade.
"While the nature of my work is inherently intergenerational, anyone who knows me knows that my true passion is the care for and formation of young people. I look forward to bringing the same emphasis, focus, and energy for our young people to Pioneer’s Board of Education," Rev. Hannon said.
