Former Arcade Elementary principal Kevin Munro has rejoined Pioneer in a temporary capacity.
Munro, also a former district Director of Special Education, will consult with the Pioneer Special Education department and mentor the department's new assistant director, Melanie Korzeniewski.
Interim Superintendent Dennis Ford reported on the appointment of Munro at the Sept. 6 regular meeting of the Pioneer Board of Education. Ford said also that Munro will take on the role of interim principal of Delevan Elementary after the departure of Principal Tiffany Giannicchi, effective Sept. 26
Giannicchi is joining Salamanca School District as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.
The board approved the appointment of Munro to both roles as well as related contracts. Korzeniewski was appointed as Assistant Director of Special Education.
Munro retired as Arcade Elementary principal in 2013.
Ford said Pioneer seeks principals for both Delevan and Pioneer High School, and shared a timeline for seeking new leadership. Both positions have been posted and candidates have been sending applications.
