The Pioneer Board of Education has approved Dennis Ford as acting superintendent, effective Monday, August 1.
The board made the appointment at a special meeting on July 28.
Superintendent Benjamin Halsey was put on administrative leave June 3.
Mr. Ford is a former superintendent at Amherst Central School. He has spent 48 years in education as a superintendent, associate superintendent, principal, assistant principal and teacher. In recent years, Mr. Ford has been active in providing educational consulting and interim superintendent services to districts throughout Western New York.
Since June 3, Nicholas Silvaroli has been acting superintendent and Michael Irizarry has been acting assistant superintendent. With Mr. Ford's appointment, Mr. Silvaroli will return to his position as Assistant Superintendent and Dr. Irizarry will revert to his post as Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology.
Also at the July 28 special meeting, Justin Baker resigned as board member and was appointed as Agriculture Teacher at Pioneer High School.
