Three Panther wrestlers will be taking part in the New York State tournament following standout performances in the Section VI championships.

Daniel Kirsch (118 pounds) won an exciting final over top-seeded Jordan Joslyn of Chautauqua Lake. Kirsch handed Joslyn his first loss of the season in a tiebreaker. Kirsch, who himself has lost only once all year, was awarded a 4-3 victory and his third Division 2 title. In addition, Kirsch was named Most Outstanding Wrestler.

"This is a huge honor, the first time I have had someone win that award in 15 years," said Coach Chris Edwards.

Kirsch will join teammates Donald Bennett (160 pounds) and Brady Heckathorn (152), who each finished second in their class, at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships Feb 25-26 in Albany.
