Pioneer's Unified Sports program is sponsoring a football skills camp for its members on Friday, Oct. 8, after school at Memorial Stadium.

Adaptive Physical Education teacher Kyle Smith, who is also a varsity football assistant coach, is helping to organize the first-time event. "The camp will begin at 2:15 p.m. and wrap up by 3:00 p.m. so students can catch a ride home," Smith said.

The camp will involve varsity football players conducting a variety of drills for Unified students. These will include such skills as throwing, catching, blocking, and footwork.

Unified sports advisor Tom Izydorczak, another Pioneer assistant football coach, said the drills will emphasize a lot of the same skills varsity players practice on a daily basis.

Smith said a group photo will be taken at the end, with each camper receiving a copy.
