in person vs. virtual

Pioneer School District continues to prepare for the option of students attending in-person five days a week. The planned date for this return is Monday, April 19.

Parents planning to switch learning models—either from virtual to full-time, or full-time to virtual—must notify their building by the end of the day on Thursday, April 1. This will be the last chance to switch for the 2020-21 school year.

In an automated call to parents on March 29, Superintendent Ben Halsey said the district needs to get an accurate count of the number of students returning as soon as possible. "With the option of five days of student attendance, we will now have only two instructional models to choose from—either on-campus full-time or fully remote," he said.

Mr. Halsey said parents who wish to change their student's status from on-campus to fully remote, or fully remote to on-campus, should contact the office of their child's school building by April 1. "It is imperative that we have accurate participation numbers to plan accordingly. If you are not making a change in your child's program you do not need to call the school," he said.

This is the last chance to adjust students' academic program for the remainder of 2020-21.
