Pioneer School District is proud to announce that Arcade Elementary second grade teacher Jessica Zymowski has been honored as Teacher of the Year by State Assemblyman David DiPietro.

Mrs. Zymowski was surprised May 8 in her classroom with her students and family on hand. Assemblyman DiPietro and Superintendent Nicholas Silvaroli were delighted to surprise her and acknowledge her hard work and dedication to not only her students but to the school community as a whole.

"While today—and this week—has been an opportunity to celebrate all of our teachers, it's exciting to have one of our own recognized by the larger community," Arcade principal Kerry Slocum said.

Mrs. Slocum added, "Thank you, Jessie, for all you do for your own students (and we'd be remiss if we didn't acknowledge that she has an excellent partner in Lily Joyce!) as well as your leadership in bringing STEAM Night to us, bringing in H.E.R.D. of WNY and other Ag-related projects, and your work with Lego League and Science Club. You work hard—every day—to do your best for your kids and all kids, and we appreciate you!"

Assemblyman DiPietro started honoring Teachers of the Year in the 147th district in 2019.
