The Pioneer Social Work Department is proud to announce there were two recipients for the month of April for Caught in the Act. They are Glen Mucha and Karen Jablonski.
Glen was nominated following a text he made sharing why he teaches. He was not sharing this to highlight his laurels but a student's success. The student was a solid B student who excelled in learning and engaging in the classroom. The student won a certificate for being the science student of the month. After the student received the certificate, he proudly showed it to Glen and with tear-filled eyes, he asked Glen for a hug rather than a handshake. Glen shared that the student's reaction was heartwarming and appreciated.
He added, "this is why I love my job." The true essence of why we teach/work with students to reach students with knowledge and form meaningful relationships.

ABOVE: Social workers Angela Mason, teacher Karen Jablonski, and social workers Sarah Beutler and Katie Koser.
Karen was nominated by several people. Their nomination information shared was:
"Karen works all day and all night, literally. She comes in EARLY too! Whatever students need: motivation, money for graduation, food, fidgets, jokes..........nothing is off the table. Karen provides all students (and staff) a smile, hard work ethic, and a heart of gold EVERY DAY:)"
Karen goes above and beyond for all students who are lucky enough to engage with her. She encourages students to try new things and never shy's away from showing her school spirit.
Glen and Karen will receive a $10 gift card to Coffee Crate, a certificate, a lanyard pin and his picture taken with representatives from the Social Work Department.
Congratulations, Glen and Karen!
