reopening update

Pioneer superintendent Benjamin Halsey shared the following re-opening update in a call to residents on Aug. 7:

"Today, Governor Cuomo gave the green light for schools to re-open in the fall, as long as the Covid data for our region remains below the parameters established by the Department of Health.  As a result, Pioneer will proceed with completing the details of our hybrid model of instruction as shared last week.

"We will be offering three information sessions for parents. These will be interactive virtual sessions where details will be shared and questions can be asked. The dates will be August 13, August 17, and August 20. They will be held at 6:00 pm.  Details will be shared early next week on how to access these meetings.

"Additionally, the district released an online survey yesterday (8/6) related to full-time online learning.  For clarification, this survey is to be filled out only if you are formally requesting full-time online learning for your student, in lieu of sending them to participate in our hybrid model.

"You have a choice for your student within our plan. If you want 100 percent online learning, please complete the information located on our website and school app.  But please note, in requesting this for your child, you are doing so for the complete first semester, which runs from September until the end of January."
