Two teams of students from Pioneer School District recently took part in a regional Lego League competition sponsored by Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES.
The first-ever Arcade Elementary Lego League team traveled to Cuba-Rushford Central School to compete on Jan. 17. Led by Mrs. Jessica Zymowski and Mrs. Brigid Higgins, these amazing kids worked hard to program their robot, "Hubby," to complete different tasks.
"It was an amazing learning experience, and they're already thinking about next year!" said Mrs. Zymowski.

Meanwhile a group from Pioneer Middle School also competed under the guidance of Mrs. Kristen D’Rozario and Mrs. Kristi Bockhahn. Their success earned them a spot at the Finger Lakes Regional Championship, taking place on February 7 at Nichols School in Buffalo.

The team earned: 2nd Place in the Robot Competition, 1st Place for their Innovation Project and Presentation, and the Professionalism Award.
"We are incredibly proud of their hard work, creativity, and teamwork. Best of luck as they head to the championship!" said Pioneer Middle School principal Jenna Driver.
