Two members of Pioneer's state championship Flag Football team have been honored as tops in their class by sportswriters.
Teammates Jayden Leederman and Ellie Edwards were named state Class C co-players of the year, as chosen by the New York State Sportswriters Association. They are the first statewide players of the year for Pioneer in any sport, according to Athletic Director Chris Edwards.
Ellie Edwards, a sophomore, threw for 42 TDs. Jayden Leederman, a junior, rushed for 1,288 yards, had 86 flag pulls, 40 tackles for loss, and six interceptions in the Panthers' state championship season.
This was the first time an all-state team was named in Flag Football.
In addition, Lilly Kless was named to the Class C first-team defense by the sportswriters.
