Pioneer School District voters approved a $69,714,066 general fund budget for 2025-26, with a spending increase of 2.86 percent.
Polling occurred May 20. The budget passed by a margin of 408-192.
The budget includes a property tax increase of 2.79 percent.
Voters also approved, by a margin of 463-147, a proposal that increases the appropriation collected by the district on behalf of area public libraries. Arcade Free Library will now receive $118,000, while Delevan-Yorkshire will receive $96,500 and King Memorial Library in Machias will receive $88,500.
In the Board of Education race, voters chose from among four candidates for two five-year seats. The top two vote-getters will serve on the board. Winners were incumbent Amanda McKerrow (333 votes) and Cory Higgins (309). Other totals include Lowell Cleveland (252), Stephanie Moore (215) and Rob Morgan (one write-in).
