The Pioneer Marching Band won first place in the debut of its 2024 field show, "Concert Blue."
"Concert Blue" is based on the piece Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. According to director April Woolley, "Our version is divided into three selections arranged for the band by Ben Hylton. The show features Charles Kolasny on the piano, Lillian Moore on the mellophone, Bruin Woolley on the trumpet and Samantha Palmisano on the baritone. The kids are all loving the show and learning one of the most iconic melodies ever written."
The band's competition season has already started and they finished first at West Seneca on Sept 7. Other upcoming appearances:
