back to school

The summer days are fleeting. Soon it will be time to resume school and for Pioneer School District to kick off 2024-25.

The work has already begun. Over the summer, teaching staff have been learning the latest techniques for yielding the best results for students. Meanwhile, the 2022 capital improvement project has been in full swing with multiple improvements in the works. Some of these are scheduled to be complete by the start of school; others will be completed over the course of the school year. Still more are on the docket for next spring and summer.

A federal grant related to COVID-19 has helped the district build a new toilet facility and wash area at Pioneer Memorial Stadium. This will not only serve the stadium crowd but also spectators for a planned multi-sport turf facility nearby.

The auditorium at Pioneer High School is closed during its renovation. This is just one of several projects at the high school which have seen revamped special education and visual arts classrooms. A new freezer is also being installed at the high school kitchen to serve the food service needs of the entire district.

Pioneer is planning once again to hold a parent-student orientation, Return to Learn, on the day before the start of school. Orientation is on Tuesday, Sept. 3, and each school has its own schedule which is to be mailed to families. The first day of classes is Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Anyone with questions about the start of school is urged to contact the office of their child's building.
