top 20 students

Pioneer High School introduced its Top 20 students from the Class of 2024 at the May 21 regular meeting of the Pioneer Board of Education.

Olivia Clouse – Valedictorian

Olivia Clouse is the daughter of Thomas and Kathryn Clouse of Arcade. Olivia is a member of the National Honor Society, GSA, Student Government--where she serves as the Treasurer and Student Representative-- Ambassador Girl Scout, Peer Helpers, and Panther Empowerment. Olivia plans to attend the University of Buffalo in the Fall where she will enroll in their UB Teach Program. She plans to be double-certified in Art Education and Secondary Math, specifically in Statistics. In her spare time, she works part-time as a waitress and enjoys making art such as painting and ceramics. Fun fact about Olivia is that she has six dogs. 

Theresa Kolasny – Salutatorian

Theresa is the daughter of Carl and Michelle Kolasny of Delevan. She is very active and involved in her extracurricular activities, she holds the office of Class Vice President, NHS President, and she also serves her class through Student Government. Theresa played field hockey, where she served as a captain; ran track and field, and was a star in the musical. After high school Theresa plans to travel abroad on a service trip with a focus on working with children. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking. Fun fact about Theresa: her favorite food is chicken soup.

Morgan Mucha – No. 3

Morgan Mucha is the daughter of Christopher Mucha and Jessica Schaeffer. Morgan participates in the National Honor Society, where she serves as the secretary. She is also part of Peer Helpers and plays field hockey. After high school, Morgan plans to attend SUNY Geneseo for Biology, then grad school for Dentistry. Morgan hopes to make a career as a General Dentist. Morgan, in her spare time, works 20 hours a week at McDonalds. Fun fact about Morgan: she is no relation to Mr. Glenn Mucha.

Cameron Marrs –No. 4

Cameron Marrs is the daughter of Ryan and Beth Marrs of Arcade. Cameron is very active in high school and community extracurricular activities; she is a member of the Arcade Junior Fire Department as an EMT, and was Executive President of Student Government. Cameron plays soccer, indoor track, and flag football. In Cameron’s spare time she likes to play the cello and enjoys reading. Fun fact about Cameron: she is the oldest of seven children.

 

Cole Rhodus – No. 5

Cole Rhodus, son of Lee and Melissa Rhodus of Chaffee, plans to attend Costal Carolina University in the Fall of 2024. After completion of college, he plans to become a real estate agent as well as having real estate investments on the side. Cole has served as the 2024 Class President for all four years of high school and is a genuine leader. He is a three-sport athlete, playing football, basketball, and baseball. He has served as a captain on several of his sports teams due to his natural leadership and team building skills.  In his spare time, he works at McDonalds and sells firewood over the summer. Fun fact about Cole: he was Barbie for spirit week.

Hannah Forster– No. 6

Hannah Rose Forester is the daughter of Kelley Forster. After graduation Hannah plans on serving an 18-month mission for her church. When she returns, Hannah plans to attend college to pursue a master’s degree in accounting/finance. Hannah’s career goals are to work in the Accounting/Finance field, raise a family, and have a strong, healthy marriage. Some of the extracurricular activities that Hannah is involved with are National Honor Society, Pioneer Pro, and FBLA. She is also a Young Women’s camp counselor for her church group. Hannah likes to sing, act, hike, crochet, take day trips, and work on jigsaw puzzles. She also has a soft spot for homeless animals.

Addison Vacinek – No. 7 

Addison Vacinek is the daughter of Kelly and Kristy Vacinek of Freedom. Addison participates in National Honor Society (vice president) and is also  the Class of 2024 Secretary. Addison plays Varsity Field Hockey and runs Track and Field, and has served as a captain for both sports. She plans to attend SUNY Environmental Science & Forestry, where she will study Biotechnology in hopes to become a Plant Geneticist. In her spare time she works part time at Bennet Manufacturing Inc.

 

 Landon Schultz – No. 8

Landon Schultz is the son of Mark and Jennifer Schultz of Arcade. Landon plans to attend Jamestown Community College on a full USA scholarship, majoring in Business/Accounting. Once that is completed, he plans on transferring to St. Bonaventure to obtain his bachelor’s and possibly obtain his MBA in Accounting. Landon’s career goals after college will be to enter the workforce in the Accounting or Business field. He has been involved with National Honor Society, Peer Helpers, and the Arcade Fire Department while completing his EMT certification at Pioneer. Landon plays soccer and tennis and enjoys being a summer soccer referee. He also likes spending time with family, playing cards, hiking, snowshoeing, and biking.  Fun fact: He likes analyzing sports teams.

 

McKenzie Huntsberger – No. 9

McKenzie Huntsberger is the daughter of Kurt and Janette Huntsberger of Arcade.  McKenzie plans to attend SUNY Geneseo to obtain her pre-veterinary undergraduate degree, then attend veterinary school to become a veterinarian. McKenzie’s career goals are to make a difference in the veterinary field providing care for the animals that we hold dear to our hearts. She is a member of Agriculture, FFA and National Honor’s Society. McKenzie works at a local dairy farm feeding calves and as a veterinary assistant at Pioneer Paws. Mckenzie enjoys outdoor activities.

Makenna Chandler – No. 10

Makenna Chandler is the daughter of Aaron Chandler from Arcade. Makenna is an active member of FBLA and serves as the secretary, is a member of Peer Helpers, and played Varsity Volleyball. After high school Makenna plans to attend either University of Buffalo or Rochester Institute of Technology in her pursuit of obtaining a degree in the field of accounting. In her spare time, she works as a hostess. Fun fact about Makenna is she likes to bake.

  

Gavin Lacy – No. 11

Gavin is the son of Teresa and Duane Lacy of Java Center. Gavin plans on working for a couple years in a Natural Resource job setting to improve his skills so one day he can earn a job as an arborist. He then plans on pursuing a career in politics and hopes to become a politician one day. Gavin is part of the indoor track team and studied Natural Resources at Ellicottville CTE Center. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening both flowers and vegetables. Fun fact: Gavin would like to share that Brussel sprouts can grow in temps down to 20 degrees.

Emma Morgan – No. 12

Emma is the daughter of Danette Robbins of Arcade. Emma has been a captain for Field Hockey and Flag Football during her high school years. She will be attending Alfred State College in hopes of becoming a Radiology Technician. In Emma’s spare time she works at Best Cones and Treats.

 

 McKenzie Marcheson – No. 13

McKenzie Marcheson is a daughter of Brian and Rachel Marcheson of Java Center. McKenzie is a member of National Honor Society and serves as a volunteer for the Strykersville Legion as a Junior Member. McKenzie will be attending St. Bonaventure University in the fall in hopes to become a pediatric oncologist. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping and works at Charlie's Diner as a host and Southtown Cleaners as a cleaner. McKenzie is excited to have new opportunities in college.

Logan Papke – No. 14

Logan Papke is the son of Jim and Becky Papke. He plans to attend the University of Buffalo majoring in Chemical Engineering.  After the completion of college, Logan plans to become a Chemical Engineer. During his four years of high school, he has been part of the track and field team, Unified Club, National Honor Society, and the Academy of Finance. In his spare time, he likes to play the guitar and go fishing, and he works at Save a Lot.

Samantha Shaver – No. 15

Samantha Shaver is a daughter of Dennis and Kathryn Shaver of Arcade. Samantha is a member of National Honor Society, North Java Fire Company, and Charlotte House as a volunteer. Samantha plans to enter the workforce after graduation with hopes to find a career that makes her happy and that she can enjoy. In her spare time she likes to make freeze-dried snacks and works at Smokey’s Bar and Grill. Fun fact about Samantha is that she has a baby bearded dragon named Rusty.

 

Sarah Morris – No. 16

Sarah is the daughter of Dale and Brandy Morris. Sarah has played on the Varsity Basketball team for four years and was the captain for one year. Sarah also played on the Varsity Volleyball team for three years and was the captain for two years. She plans to attend Costal Carolina University while majoring in marketing and minoring in sports science. Sarah hopes that one day she can work with a professional sports team in the marketing field. In her spare time, she works part-time at Crabb Oil in Arcade.

 

Helen Schneider – No. 17

Helen is the daughter of Chris and Heather Schneider of Arcade. She is the Historian and a member of National Honor Society. She serves on the Board of Directors for UUEA Church of East Aurora. Helen played volleyball and is the Section Leader for Orchestra. In Helen’s spare time she enjoys drawing and reading, and worked as a cashier at John and Mary’s. Fun fact about Helen: she broke her ankle when she was 10.

 

Delaney Petri – No. 18

Delaney is the daughter of Heather Edmunds and Dan Petri. Delaney has played Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Basketball. During her career in sports, she has shown tremendous leadership skills which landed her as captain for both volleyball and basketball. Delaney plans to attend Lackawanna College to earn her associate degree in Business while playing Volleyball as a Falcon. Delaney plans to then attend beauty school to earn her license as an esthetician then open her own salon. In Delaney’s spare time she works over the summer at Sixt Lumber.

Messina Maul – No. 19

Messina is a daughter of Carla Maul and Matt Maul. Messina plans to attend college to major in Astronomy and minor in Astrophysics, then attend grad school. Messina’s goal is to work for NASA as a space researcher/scientist in hopes to make new discoveries with her personal data. Messina was the stage crew manager for the 2024 High School Musical 'All Shook Up', and served as the section leader in the High School Orchestra. She is a member of Peer Helpers, National Honor Society, and FBLA where she has been the Vice President for the last three years. Messina played Volleyball, Bowling (captain) and Flag Football. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hunting, listening to music, volunteering at her local church, and working seasonally for the Ellicottville Rodeo. Fun fact: Messina has a membership to the Martz Kohl Observatory located south of Jamestown.

Chloe Phetteplace – No. 20

Chloe is daughter of Ryan and Toni Phetteplace of Arcade. Chloe is the President of FFA, a member of National Honor Society, and is on the Pioneer Trap Team. Chloe plans to attend Genesee Community College in the fall to study Nursing. Chloe hopes to earn her Bachelor of Science in nursing then pursue her COA (Council on Accreditation) of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. In Chloe’s spare time she enjoys shooting trap, showing swine, and working at McDonalds.

Madeline Koziol (No. 2) - Madeline is the daughter of Nicholas and Lori Koziol of Bliss. She is a member of National Honor Society, concert band, and Field Hockey. She has in the past served on the School Advisory Council and was a member of Chamber Choir. Madeline plans to attend St. Bonaventure in the fall majoring in early childhood and childhood education. In her spare time she enjoys shopping, playing the flute, baking, and working as a cashier at Arcade Market Place. Fun fact about Madeline: She has been working with children in a classroom environment since 5th grade.

Timothy Sonner (No. 3) - Tim is the son of Timothy and Marcy Sonner of Arcade. He plans to join the Marines after graduation. Tim has a knack for welding and plans to continue sharpening his skills. He has been an asset to the Boys Varsity Swim and Cross-Country teams. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, lifting weights, and restoring vintage vehicles.
