Pioneer School District has been working diligently to fill openings on the staff, particularly with regard to leadership.
At the Nov. 14 regular meeting of the Pioneer Board of Education, members approved Kalli Harrington in the role of Assistant High School Principal, starting January 2, 2024. Ms. Harrington has been an Earth Science teacher at Springville-Griffith Institute since 2013.
Ms. Harrington will be joining Acting Principal Joe Cappadonia and Assistant Principal Caroline Krug, who have been leading the high school since the start of the 2023-24 school year.
At the same Board of Education meeting, Kerry Slocum was given permanent status as Principal of Arcade Elementary School. Ms. Slocum was appointed Acting Principal at Arcade last spring. Her two-year probationary period begins July 1, 2024.
Meanwhile, Cheri Minehan, who is currently a Special Education Administrator, has been approved to take over as Director of Special Education on July 1, 2024. She will succeed Jean Vallance, who is retiring at the end of the current school year.
