Eric Slocum of Arcade has been selected to fill a vacancy on the Pioneer Board of Education.

Mr. Slocum will serve out the remaining term of Edward McCarthy, who resigned after 16 years effective July 12.  Mr. Slocum was appointed by the Pioneer Board of Education to fill the vacancy at the July 11 annual reorganization meeting.

Mr. Slocum is a 1983 Pioneer graduate and has three children who are alumni.

He was among five candidates for two seats on the board in the most recent Board of Education election in May. He finished with the third-highest vote tally behind Shawn Hannon and Brandon Pyc, each of whom just started five-year terms.

The next meeting of the Board of Education is August 15.
