'ARSENIC & OLD LACE' DRAMA CLUB PRODUCTION
Murder, chaos, and confusion are the words best used to describe Pioneer Drama Club’s production of the black comedy Arsenic and Old Lace.
Elderberry wine, poison, murder, Teddy Roosevelt, and pot roast. What do these things all have in common? They all play a crucial role in the black box production of Joseph Kesselring’s classic comedy Arsenic and Old Lace. Watch the chaos that ensues when Mortimer Brewster discovers that his sweet, elderly aunts (Abby and Martha) have been poisoning old men in their home. The chaos turns into full-blown pandemonium when Mortimer’s psychopath brother, Jonathan, makes an unwelcome return with his plastic surgeon and another dead body in tow. Throw in another brother who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt, a tumultuous engagement, and several oblivious police officers, and you have a show that will keep you laughing and biting your nails at the same time.
