Scholarships

The 2023-24 Local Scholarship Booklet is now available!  Applications will be due to the guidance office no later than February 15, 2024 by 3:30 pm.  Scholarship recipients will be announced at our annual achievement night in June.

JANUARY 2024

FEBRUARY 2024

  • NYS Scholarship for Academic Excellence - Pioneer uses class rank to determine which students will qualify for these scholarships. These are awarded at our Achievement Night held in June.  Click here for more information.

MARCH 2024

  • Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation - there are many different opportunities. Please use this link to explore further.

  • WNY R-AHEC Health Career Scholarship - Western New York Rural Area Health Education Center will be awarding scholarships to seniors entering an approved healthcare related degree or certificate program at a local university or community college within New York State. Applications must be submitted by Monday, March 18, 2024.

  • Hagan Scholarship

  • Character Council of WNY- $1000 Character Excellence Scholarship

  • Federated Garden Clubs of New York State Eighth District Scholarship - this scholarship is for graduating high school seniors residing in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara counties who plan to major in one of the following areas of study: Agriculture, Botany, Conservation, Environmental Science, Forestry, Horticulture, Land Management, Landscape Design, Wildlife Science, or a related field. Applications must be postmarked between March 15th and March 31st.

  • Gerard J. Buckenmeyer Memorial FASNY Volunteer Scholarships - FASNY (Firefighters Association of the State of New York award young firefighters $1,500 scholarships to continue their post-secondary education. Applications are due by March 15, 2024.

  • The Andrew Joseph Pingie Scholarship - awarded to a deserving learner, who is a resident of Cattaraugus or McKean County, that shares the same passions and values as Andy. Applications due by March 7, 2024.

  • Erie County Historical Federation Scholarship - awarded to a high school senior graduating in the spring who is studying history at an accredited institution of higher learning. Students must submit a completed application, a paragraph stating why you are interested in studying history, and proof of acceptance to a chosen institution of higher learning either via email (ECHFscholarship@gmail.com) or mail by March 15th.

APRIL 2024

  • Sandy Cochran Memorial Scholarship Fund - this scholarship is for students who are pursuing a career in forestry, natural resource management, and/or environmental science. Applicants must submit an application, a cover sheet, an essay indicating how their career aspirations align with the Cochran vision, one or more letters of reference, and their most recent transcript.

  • SWAVF 2024 Scholarships - all applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2024.

  • Mary Anne Graney Memorial Scholarship - awarded to high school seniors who reside in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties and who plan to pursue a career in Special Education, Human Services, or a field related to working with individuals with disabilities. Applications must be submitted by April 23, 2024.

MAY 2024

  • Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo (application available in January)

  • Dana Fry Scholarship - The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 193 is offering three scholarships totaling $500.00. Please complete the necessary scholarship by May 8th, 2024.

  • Olean Kennel Club - this scholarship is for students who are accepted to, or are currently enrolled in, an AVMA accredited Veterinary or Veterinary Tech Program, Life Science, Pre-Vet, or other pet related field of study. To apply, please send the completed application by mail to the address listed on the application by May 31, 2024.

  • Past National Commander Michael J. Kogutek American Legion Scholarship Trust - this scholarship is intended to assist 8th District New York State Veterans, their families, and patriotic students who share he ideal of the American Legion. The scholarship will be awarded based on veteran status (including family members), financial need, scholastic ability, realistic goals, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement. Applications must be submitted by Friday, May 3, 2024 by Noon, or postmarked by this date.
