On Thursday, HS Art students were turning heads once again & making a strong regional statement by winning 3 out of the 5 awards given at UB's WNY Regional High School Art Exhibition. Honorable Mention went to Jackson Trummer's painting "I wanna feel whatever you think I should," 3rd place went to Jasmine Smith's ceramic piece "Cloud Study (Approaching Storm)". And winning Best in Show was Kaitlynn Webber's ceramic piece, "Identity Series (Self-Discovery)". Also representing Pioneer were Mackenzie Holmes, Jenna Hoffman, & Bre Spencer. Proud teachers are Scott Losi & Stacey Lechevet.

Boys indoor track team placed 4th and the girls team placed 7th at the team championships in Class C. The following athletes helped score points for their teams: Hannah Drennan, Porsha Harrington, Marissa Klimczak, Madison Matuszak, Faith Ruppert, Madison Snayczuk, Tyler Ely, Jerad Hediger, Adian Kimpel, Derek Nieves, Bryce Schoepflin, Cody Scholl, Trent Wesley & Grant Wright. Two school records were broken again this season: Derek Nieves in the 55m and the 4 x 200m relay team of Tyler Ely, Grant Wright, Cody Scholl and Derek Nieves. Shout out to Madison Snayczuk as she broke the Triple Jump record with a leap of 35' 1/2".

Girls varsity basketball improved their record to 5-3 over the weekend, winning the Waste Management Tournament. On Friday (1/10) they won a thriller, 46-44, over Gowanda. They then won the championship on Saturday, beating Alden 47-35. Megan Fuller was named tournament MVP, ending the tourney with 35 points. Kristin Morris and Callie Barber were also named to the All Tournament team. Way to go, Panthers!
Boys Swimming: On Tuesday, Zach Marks broke the school record in the 100 backstroke with a 59.76. That record stood since 1996!
