Welcome back to the start of a new school year at Delevan Elementary School! I hope you all had a wonderful summer and were able to rest and recharge.

This summer we had a capital project to update our sidewalks, circle, bus lanes and loading dock.  We have expanded our front parking lot making 20+ extra parking spots available for our school events.   The interior of the school received some fresh paint, wax on the floors and a thorough cleaning to welcome all of our students and families back for another great year.

Student academic success is the main goal of every staff member at Delevan Elementary. We have set very high expectations and have made plans to guarantee that every student at Delevan will be successful this school year.   We believe that every student will learn to the highest level and we are prepared to offer more time and support to every student that needs it. We ask for your support and participation in this effort by sending your child to school every day on time, maximizing the instruction time, encouraging your child to read every evening, monitoring your child’s homework, and asking your child to share what they learned at school each day.

You should have received a letter in the mail with the name of your child’s teacher for this year.  Every effort was made to create classes that are balanced and beneficial to all students. Classroom assignments are based on matching students’ learning styles with teachers’ teaching styles and personalities in conjunction with academic abilities, gender and any other factors that will allow for each child to be successful.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this process.

We will be holding our Parent/Student/Teacher Orientation Day on Wednesday, September 4th from 11:00pm – 7:00p.m.  The first day of school for students is Thursday, September 5th.

Our building will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students in UPK - Fourth Grade.  This was made possible through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) which allows schools in high-poverty areas to offer school breakfast and lunch to all students at no cost. CEP offers more opportunities for children to receive nutrition necessary to optimize academic achievement.

We are excited to announce that we will be providing school supplies to all of students in UPK-Fourth Grade.  Thank you to the Rural Outreach Center and the Pioneer School District for making this happen again! We know that back to school is an overwhelming time of year and we hope that this helps alleviate some of the stress that Fall can bring.  All of your child’s school supplies will be waiting for them in their classrooms on the first day of school. This year I am looking forward too many new beginnings and I hope you are too.   Let’s work together to create memorable or defining moments for our students.  A memorable, defining moment can be defined as a moment in time where you feel pride or connection. At Delevan Elementary we will be raising the stakes, and breaking the normal routines to provide students with positive experiences they’ll never want to forget!

I look forward to seeing you and your child at our parent/student orientation day and most of all I am excited about the year ahead. Enjoy the remainder of your summer!
