PBIS Club was great today! The students were sorted into groups for two different team building activities to go along with March’s character trait, RESILIENCE. The first activity was lining up silently by their birthday months, they got together and had one minute to come up with a strategy for their group and then they had to silently work together to line up in order! The second a activity was to get the hula hoop across their circle without letting go of hands! These kids are amazing and proved they have RESILIENCE!
Tomorrow is Green Eggs and Ham Day! Wear green and white!! Tomorrow is also a half day for both Arcade and Delevan Elementary Schools. Walkers are dismissed at 11:20 and buses at 11:30. Please make sure your child’s teacher knows how your child is going home. There is NO afternoon latchkey.

Tomorrow is, My Many Colored Days, Day! Wear as many colors as you can!
Today in PBIS Club we had students participate in some team building activities to learn about our next character trait, RESILIENCE. Our first activity was a get to know you speed session, where students rotated around the room and talked with each other to get to know them better! Our second activity was a rock, paper, scissors activity. The students had to pair up and battle in rock, paper, scissors, the loser then had to follow the winner around cheering them on and this continued until there were two groups of students cheering for their winner, and at the end everyone was cheering for the ultimate winner. This activity was done so the students could learn that win or lose we should always cheer each other on and to overcome being frustrated if they lost.
PBIS Club families, we meet again tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4th, at 7:45am. Please drop your child off at the door near the bus lanes no earlier then 7:45. Please do not drop them off at the front circle. Mr. Wilkie or Mrs. Kibler will be at the door at that time to let your child in if they are a parent drop off. Thank you!

Our second graders have been working on narrative writing pieces in our writing classes and wanted to share them with others. So each student invited a guest from home to come and share the fun! We turned out the lights (...and used flashlights) and split into small groups where the students read their stories aloud to the group. Thank you to all that joined us!

Today we had some special visitors from, Navient Corporation, to read in each classroom for our Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) day! Each year several employees from Navient donate money and time to ensure every student here at Delevan Elementary receives a free book and has the opportunity to hear an adult role model read aloud. We are thankful for these very generous members from our community.

In collaboration with community partners, Arcade and Delevan Elementary Schools are continuing the Snackpaks for Kids Program this school year. Many children who receive no-charge school meals are left without adequate nutrition on weekends & holiday breaks. Our program is designed to fill this gap by providing healthy, kid-friendly, and easy to prepare foods to children at risk of weekend hunger. The hope in supplying food is not only to fill a hungry belly, but also to give children the focus to be ready to learn come Monday morning without the worry of hunger. Contact your school for details.
