summer learning

Summer learning programs are up and running in the Pioneer School District.

During his report to the Board of Education on July 12, Acting Superintendent Nick Silvaroli said Delevan Elementary is hosting a C-A BOCES-operated summer school similar to recent years. The program began on July 5, and includes students from both Pioneer and neighboring school districts.

In addition, summer school for Pioneer elementary and middle school students began July 11.  The program operates three days a week, with 50 elementary students at Delevan and 75-80 grade 5-8 students at the middle school. Mr. Silvaroli said.

High school summer learning begins the week of July 18 at the middle school, he added. The focus there will be on credit recovery and Regents exam preparation. Ninety-four students are eligible.

Mr. Silvaroli said transportation and lunch are being provided.
