There are no new cases of Covid-19 in the Pioneer School District, and classes will resume Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The update came in an automated call to residents from Pioneer superintendent Benjamin Halsey.

"This is good news," Mr. Halsey said.

Schools were closed Friday, Oct. 9, after two positive Covid-19 cases. A follow-up contact tracing process resulted in recommended quarantine for 55 students and 10 adults, mainly at the high school.

These steps were done out of an abundance of caution and in consultation with state and county health officials.

"With these notifications and daily deep cleaning and disinfecting of our buildings, we are prepared to reopen," Mr. Halsey said.

He said athletics will continue, as well as all business operations. Mr. Halsey asked that everyone at school continue best practices—including wearing a mask, social distancing, and good personal hygiene.

"And please, stay home if you do not feel well," he added.
