Pioneer School District remains closed in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis, just as all districts are across the state, through at least April 28.

Superintendent Benjamin Halsey said "We hope residents are doing well, staying healthy, supporting their loved ones, and being productive in our new order of doing business."

The Pioneer Food Service Department continues to prepare and distribute over 1,000 meals per weekday, including 300 deliveries. A special hotline (716-492-9322) has been established for meal delivery requests.

Food Service will offer families a double delivery of food on Thursday, April 10, in advance of the Good Friday holiday.

The April 13-17 spring recess is cancelled, Mr. Halsey said, and voting on the school budget is delayed until after June 1.

Pioneer administration has also been working with faculty to keep the learning process moving forward. This can look different according to the grade level, but the emphasis has been on teachers staying in contact with parents and students, along with providing access to materials and activities.

The State Education Department recently announced the cancellation of June Regents exams. More information on what form final exams will take is forthcoming.

Mr. Halsey praised the community for showing flexibility and resilience during these challenging times. He also said the district will continue to make it a priority to communicate with the public when the situation changes.
