Wyoming County Fair Parade

During the seemingly short summer months, Pioneer FFA members participated in a number of agricultural events to broaden their experience as FFA members and young adults.

19 students attended Camp Oswegatchie; many were returning campers. However, we welcomed many students who would be experiencing their first year at the educational center. While students enjoyed all activities during their short time at Oswegatchie, some favorites included horseback riding, hiking, playing gaga, and even arts and crafts.

Another one of many important events was Empire Farm Days, where FFA members competed in a variety of career development events (CDEs). In tractor driving, Trevor Hulton placed 2nd for the senior event and Aaron Fisher placed 1st for the junior event. Great job boys!

In the welding event, the Pioneer team placed 2nd overall. Individually, Patrick Fontaine placed 2nd and Kaleb Keith placed 5th. Job well done!

A number of teams also competed at the New York State Fair:

  • The Agronomy team placed 2nd overall. Individually, Grace Heppner placed 2nd, Aaron Fisher placed 3rd, and Kamrin Owens placed 5th.  Exceptional!
  • The Diesel Troubleshoot team placed 1st as a team. Individually, Kaleb Keith placed 1st and Caleb Morales 2nd.
  • The Electricity team placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. Individually, Kaleb Keith was 2nd, Abby Heitzman was 5th, Caleb Morales was 6th, and Janette Grizer was 7th.
  • The Poultry team placed 6th .The Meat Identification team placed 5th, and Karlie Putt placed 4th individually.

All members displayed hard work put into their events. Congratulations FFA members!

Members also participated in the Wyoming County Fair. The chapter officers' dedicated time and effort into a fair booth that took 1st place. Hard work pays off!

The annual chicken barbecue and tractor pull held at Strawberry Fields gave Pioneer the perfect opportunity to sell raffle tickets for our Ford 8N pink tractor. Proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research.  Tickets were also sold at the steam show by attending members. We plan on raffling off the tractor on October 25th .

It’s been a great summer for all FFA members, and we can’t wait to see what holds in store for us in the future!
