    What is solo festival?
At solo festivals, students play for an adjudicator who will give them comments and a grade based on their performance.  Although preparation requires extra practice and work, students who perform at solo festivals gain a great amount of experience.  Students who score among the top are invited to perform at All-County or Area All-State bands.
What do students play at solo festivals?
Students are required to prepare scales or rudiments (percussion only) and a solo, which is chosen by his/her teacher.  The last part of the evaluation is sight reading, where students are given 1 minute to look at a piece of music they have never seen.
    Levels 1-2: 3 Scales
    Levels 3-4: 7 Scales
    Levels 5-6: 12 Scales
    Snare Drum Rudiments
