Principal’s Welcome Back Letter

Dear Families,

Thank you for visiting the Delevan Elementary School webpage. As the principal of Delevan Elementary School, I want to welcome you to our school. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with highly qualified and dedicated staff, wonderful students, and supportive parents.

Our staff is committed to working with students and their families as a team. The rigorous curriculum is directly aligned to the New York State Common Core Learning Standards. To help each child achieve to his/her fullest potential, the school provides both enrichment and intervention supports for students. We believe in knowing each child by “name and need.” Our school will continue to implement Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS). Respectful, responsible and safe is our school motto at all times. Students who display these behaviors will have the opportunity to work towards school and class rewards. Students will continue to celebrate their success with a character education assembly/kick-off each month (“Panther Time”), Student of the Week breakfast (SOW) and recognition at the assembly and a school-wide reward at the end of the month.

Research shows that parental involvement in a child’s education benefits the child. These benefits are higher levels of academic achievement, positive attitudes, and greater maturity and responsibility. Because the benefits are so solid, I urge you to take part as much as possible in the life of our school. Your assistance as a volunteer would be extremely valuable to our students. Consider becoming a school volunteer. There are many areas where your help would be appreciated. We welcome you to join your child’s class for their monthly Writer’s Workshop celebration. It is a great way to learn about the different genres of writing and watch them develop into amazing authors.  You can also visit our Family Resource Center to sign-out materials, bring a younger sibling to story time, join our Reading is Fundamental Committee (RIF) or consult with our Family Resource Specialist, Mary Becker.  Our PTA is always appreciative of volunteers for our Family Fun Nights and other PTA sponsored events. Please know that I am available to meet with you in person or talk to you over the telephone to discuss any concerns you may have. As the instructional leader of this campus I am responsible for all decisions made in the best interest of your children. I look forward to a great year and to meeting all of our new children and their families. Thank you for the partnership and dedication to Delevan Elementary School.

Warmest Regards,

Mrs. Giannicchi
