PIONEER SCHOOLS SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES NCLB


Supplemental educational services (SES) are defined in the federal No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Under NCLB, local school districts are responsible for notifying parents of students in some schools receiving Title I funds that their children are eligible for supplemental educational services (including tutoring) from a provider on the Department ’s approved list of service providers.

According to the Differentiated Accountability Pilot, all Title I schools identified for improvement (Improvement, Corrective Action or Restructuring phase) must offer students supplemental educational services. Under NCLB regulations schools must determine their eligibility to offer services and report it to the Education Department.List contains Title I Status, and indicates which schools are identified for improvement.

Supplemental Educational Services at Pioneer Central School District offers free tutoring to students in English Language Arts/Reading.  Tutoring is available after school and on weekends through our approved service provider(s).  SES Tutoring is designed to help students in grades K-5 catch up if they are behind in English Language Arts/Reading, it is not meant to be used as homework help. Students are eligible for SES tutoring if they meet the following criteria: they must be enrolled in one of the eligible schools listed below and they must qualify for free or reduced lunch.
