Hello and welcome to my web page!

I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.

I grew up in Hamburg, NY where I lived with my parents, Richard and Paulette Scafetta, and my sister Mary Kate.  After graduating from Hamburg High School, I attended Erie Community College and earned my Associate's Degree.  I then went on to Buffalo State College where I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education and Reading.  I currently hold NYS Teaching Certification N-6 with a 7-12 extension in English.  I reside in East Aurora with my two beautiful children-- Dyllan, age 14, Landri, age 11, and my Husband, Jimmy.

I have been teaching at Pioneer Middle School since 1997.  That means I am at 20 years this year!!! I began teaching on the 6th, 7th, & 8th grade Multi-Level Team where I taught ELA and Social Studies.  I then moved on to teach ELA on the Looping Team, grades 7 & 8.  This team evolved into the 8 Green team on which I spent many years.  2009 marked another change in my career, to the 8 White Team.

I am an Advisor for a few extra-curricular activities available at the Middle and High School levels: Scholastic Challenge and the 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip.  In addition, I am the head of the ELA Department at the Middle School.

In addition to teaching, I am also a photographer.  I enjoy taking photographs of nature--birds, animals, landscapes--It is a hobby that I have improved over the past few years and I enjoy it tremendously.  I take photos for all of our district sports'teams, as well as, Seniors, families, and babies!   I also like to write, read, travel, camp in the Adirondacks,  and of course spend time with my kids and husband.    In addition, I like Mexican food and I love all kinds of music.  When I have time, I enjoy watching my favorite TV shows--Grey's Anatomy, Walking Dead, American Horror Story, and Chicago Fire.
I love teaching and always knew that was what I wanted to do in my life.  I find working with students to be a challenging but rewarding daily adventure.
"Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
Love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the ones who don’t.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.
If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said life would be easy.
They just promised it would be worth it."
