If you're looking for something to do...
Springville Center for the Arts- ( now located in a newly renovated church on Buffalo Ave. in the center of downtown in Springville) is a great place to start. There are a variety of opportunities to choose from ranging from art classes and art shows, to stage design, performing, and open mic nights. If you are interested in the art scene, but don't feel comfortable creating- the center is is a great place to volunteer your services in the areas of office, organization, display set-up, movies, concerts or other events! Get involved! Have some fun! Help a great grass roots organization, AND earn extra credit for class! We pride ourselves in being contributing members of our community.
RedFish Art Studio -is just a short trip up Rt. 16 in East Aurora. They offer art classes, and a number of free art openings throughout the year. If it's community service you're looking for, you can participate on the Arcade Beautification Committee- paint a trash can or a mural, or even plant a garden!
Wyoming Council for the Arts in Perry- If you live on the "East Side" of our district, then you are closest to this venue- not only do we participate in one of their art shows each spring, but they have changing exhibits and presentations of various sorts throughout the year. This organization also offers our art majors a fanatastic opportunity---for FREE- professionals at the center will review your art work for your portfolio, provide you with input and suggestions, and best of all- they will photograph your portfolio for you- They will provide you with both digital and slide format. Did I mention IT'S FREE!
The Oracle- Pioneer High School's Art and Literary Publication - we're always in need of your contributions! What do you have to say for yourself? Submit to the Oracle today! Don't be a do-nothing! Be a do-something! Those are just a couple of our slogans....you can join for the poetry, you can join for the art, or you can join just so you can be a part of the coolest club in school!
Griffis Sculpture Park- Located in East Otto- just a short drive over the hill off Rt. 219 south (toward Ellicottville)- if you're looking for unrestricted art and nature you can't beat a day at Griffis Sculpture Park. Larry Griffis devoted much of his life to creating huge metal sculptures- and believed that they should be touched, climbed on, and enjoyed by everyone. This place is awesome!
The Arcade Herald- Every year a number of Pioneer students are recognized for their outstanding talent in the visual arts- whether you're a creator or a critic, look and listen for upcoming art events in our area. The Herald is the official newspaper of the Pioneer School District.
