    GRADING POLICY

Your overall final grade for this course will be determined by adding your four-quarter grades.  Your final exam in this class will be calculated into your fourth quarter grade.  The total number of points from these grades will be divided by four, resulting in your final grade.  Anytime you wish to see your grade status, you may request a progress report from me and I will get it to you at my earliest convenience.

    ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance will be taken daily.  You will be marked PRESENT, ABSENT, OR TARDY.  There are two types of absences, Legal and Illegal.  If you have an illegal absence (for example, skipping class) you are not eligible for making up a graded assignment that was given in class that day.  I addition, you will lose all attendance points earned for that quarter.

    ATTENDANCE BONUS POINTS

Any students can earn ATTENDANCE BONUS POINTS added to their quarter average based on the following scale:

                1 day absent =            5 points added

                2-3 days absent =       4 points added

                4-5 days absent =       3 points added

Any class skipped regardless of absence total = zero points

Any missed class regardless of the reason will be counted when determining your eligibility for bonus points.  You will not be penalized for absenteeism, but you will be rewarded for being in class.

    LATE GRADE POLICY

All graded assignments turned in late will be penalized as follows:

    1 day late = 10%, 2 days late = 50%

If you miss a TEST or an IN CLASS QUIZ or ASSESSMENT due to a legal absence, make-ups for any missed grades must be scheduled BY YOU.

    UNIT TESTS

There will be at least 10 Unit Tests given during the year.  The purpose of these tests will be to test and evaluate your knowledge of content covered in class and homework as well as prepare you for the REGENTS and/or RCT given at the end of the year.

    QUIZZES & OTHER ASSIGNMENTS/PROJECTS

You can expect to be given a quiz each week, usually on Thursdays or Fridays.  Other assignments and projects will be given to you periodically throughout the school year.  Some assignments will be meant to be completed in class and some will be to be taken home as homework.

    NOTEBOOK

A 3-ringed binder is required and notebooks will be checked periodically.
