OT/ Transition/Life SkillsPhone: 716-492-9300 ext 2584We believe that how children learn is just as important as what they learn. A person's strengths must be capitalized upon as they explore the world of life "when the school bus doesn't come anymore". Knowing the participants, their families and distinguished agencies allows everyone to work together as a cohesive unit. Responsibility tends to be an overlying theme as we consistently encourage positive, informed choice-making in all aspects of transition planning. Since we believe that social curriculum is as important as academic curriculum, the concepts of community inclusion, networking and collaboration will form the basis of our philosophy. To be successful, individuals need a set of social skills: cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control.Please do not feel as though it is necessary to wait until scheduled conference dates to inquire about your child's progress in the transition process. Parents are invited to contact us as they begin to engage in transition planning for their children. We look forward to working with you as we explore the pathways leading to your ultimate journey. - Pat and Lori
