

Kerry Slocum is a Pioneer graduate who brings thirteen years of teaching experience to our administrative team. She earned a Bachelors degree in English from St. John Fisher College, a Masters in English Literature from SUNY Brockport, and a Masters in Educational Administration from UB. Mrs. Slocum began her teaching career at Churchville-Chili High School in 1997 and has worked at Pioneer since 2002, first as a teacher and then as a Dean of Students. In addition to her work at Pioneer High School, she is an adjunct instructor in writing and literature at GCC in Arcade. Mrs. Slocum oversees 9th and 11th grades.

Michael Irizarry grew up in Wayland, NY and came to Buffalo in 1998 to attend Canisius College. He earned a Bachelors degree in Pure Mathematics from Canisius College, a Masters in Educational Computing from Buffalo State College, and a Masters in Educational Administration from Canisius College. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Administration from University of Buffalo. He previously taught 7th grade math at Maryvale Middle School for over 9 years. Outside of school, Michael earned his first degree black belt in Tae Kwon-Do and is currently training towards earning his second degree black belt. Mr. Irizarry oversees 10th and 12th grades.
